How do I optimise container loading?

Use our Container Load Optimiser to calculate the best container type (20ft, 40ft, 40HC) for your cargo. Enter your cargo dimensions and quantities to see optimal loading configurations and cost comparisons.

How do I estimate transit time for my route?

Use the transit calculator for supported routes. Timing depends on origin, destination, transport mode and provider schedules; confirm the expected milestones and any excluded delays with the provider.

How do I calculate demurrage and detention charges?

Our Demurrage & Detention Calculator helps you estimate daily charges when containers are held beyond free time. Demurrage applies at the port/terminal, detention applies when you have the container. Rates vary by shipping line and container type.

Can I calculate carbon emissions for my shipments?

Yes, our Carbon Footprint Calculator estimates CO2 emissions based on shipping method, distance, and cargo weight. Sea freight produces 10-50g CO2/ton-km while air freight produces 500-1500g CO2/ton-km. Track your environmental impact for ESG reporting.

What insurance premium should I expect?

Cargo insurance typically costs 0.2-0.5% of the cargo value (CIF + 10%). Use our Insurance Premium Calculator to estimate costs based on your cargo type, value, and shipping route. Higher-risk goods may have premium rates.

Which calculator should e-commerce businesses use?

E-commerce sellers should use the AI Smart Calculator for intelligent recommendations, Shipping Cost Calculator for delivered pricing, Customs Duty Calculator for landed costs, and Transit Time Calculator for inventory planning. Combined, these help optimize margins and customer delivery expectations.

Import cost planning: inputs, method and limitations

Use this calculator to organise a planning scenario and understand how its inputs affect the result. It is most useful when you keep a record of the units, dates and service assumptions. For import cost planning, the information you enter should describe the actual requirement rather than an idealised example.

Prepare the inputs

Collect the goods description, candidate classification, transaction values, origin, destination and the assumptions for freight and insurance. Check that the measurements and quantities use consistent units. If a value is unknown, label it as an assumption and revisit the result when confirmed information becomes available.

Prepare the inputs

Interpret the result

Separate the inputs and assumptions for each cost component. Check the importing jurisdiction and transaction-specific treatment with an appropriate professional before using an estimate in a final declaration or budget.

Interpret the result

Check before relying on the estimate

A calculator does not determine the final classification, eligibility for preferences, permits or amounts payable. Current rules and the facts of the transaction need separate verification.

Questions before you proceed

Can I use the result as a confirmed offer?

No. A calculator explains the scenario entered. Ask the responsible provider to confirm the applicable service, method, terms and final commercial offer.

How should I compare two scenarios?

Change one assumption at a time, keep the units and calculation boundaries consistent, and record why the input changed. Confirm the preferred scenario against the actual goods and service requirements.
